Fermions on curved backgrounds of matrix models

چکیده

We discuss the propagation of fermions on generic, curved branes in Ishibashi-Kawai-Kitazawa-Tsuchiya-type matrix models. The Dirac operator can be understood either terms a Weitzenb\"ock connection, or Levi-Civita connection with an extra torsion term. detail coupling spin to background geometry using Jeffreys-Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin approximation. Despite absence local Lorentz invariance underlying Ishibashi-Kawai-Kitazawa-Tsuchiya framework, our results agree expectations Einstein-Cartan theory, and differ from general relativity only by totally antisymmetric part torsion. case Friedmann–-Lema\^{\i}tre-–Robertson-–Walker cosmic solutions is discussed as special case.

Exactly solvable string models of curved space-time backgrounds

We consider a new 3-parameter class of exact 4-dimensional solutions in closed string theory and solve the corresponding string model, determining the physical spectrum and the partition function. The background fields (4-metric, antisymmetric tensor, two KaluzaKlein vector fields, dilaton and modulus) generically describe axially symmetric stationary rotating (electro)magnetic flux-tube type u...

QED2 in Curved Backgrounds

Here we discuss the two dimensional quantum electrodynamics in curved spacetime, especially in the background of some black holes. We first show the existence of some new quantum mechanical solution which has interesting properties. Then for some special black holes we discuss the fermion-black hole scattering problem. The issue of confinement is intimately connected with these solutions and we...

Vacuum decay in curved backgrounds

We evaluate the effect of gravity on the probability of vacuum decay through bubble nucleation for a scalar field in an arbitrary curved background up to first order in an expansion in powers of Rp’, where R is the scalar curvature of the background metric at the location of the bubble and p is the size of the bubble as it would appear in a flat space. The mechanism by which a scalar field in a...

A remark on worldsheet fermions and double-scaled matrix models

We provide a heuristic explanation for the emergence of worldsheet fermions in the continuum limit of some matrix models. We also argue that turning on Ramond-Ramond flux confines the fermionic degrees of freedom of the Ramond-Neveu-Schwarz formalism.
